Quite a number of prisoners were brought
in to day. We are encamped on the
plantation of a rank reb. named
Sathy. who forced his Negro slaves to
murder the Federal soldier's who were
wounded and taken by the rebs. In the
evening the Gun Boats. sailed up the
river and opened on a fatigue party
of the Johnnies, who were building fortifica-
-tions. The day has been very warm
and pleasant.
